Alena Museum is a non-profit with the mission of providing critical safe spaces for the black diaspora to express & cultivate their cultural identity in the faec of gentrification. Alena activates creative spaces that house multi-disciplinary art & work studios honoring the cultural richness of the African diaspora.
Execution
Nia in the Swahili language means Purpose.
According to the Islamic concept, Nia means Intention
After the fatal death of Nia Wilson (18) on July 22,2018 in Oakland, CA. Alena wanted to honor Wilsons memory. On First Friday we presented a complete “Live your Purpose” art installation which included an alter and a healing space to reflect on purpose and intention.
